Given that more principles based regulation is an evolving area, this course will include any topical and relevant developments that are live at the time of delivery.
This Course aims to:
- Explain the reasoning behind the move towards more principles based regulation
- Describe the main over-arching ‘principles’ that the FSA wishes firms to comply with
- Give an overview of useful industry guidance that has been published in relation to different areas
- Provide an understanding of the application of the TCF initiative to both wholesale and retail firms
- Explain the wider implications of principles based regulation for regulated firms
- Provide practical advice on judging whether a course of action complies with the spirit of a principle, rather than just the letter of the law
- Examine the FSA’s changing approach to supervision and enforcement work, in the light of principles based regulation
